There are several options for free tax preparation this tax season:
- If you make below $42,000 per household, you may qualify for free tax assistance through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. To find out more, or schedule an appointment at a free tax preparation site near you dial 211.
- If you make below $56,000 per year and you are comfortable with a computer (if you can send and receive emails) then you can self-file your taxes online at www.myfreetaxes.com this is a free online tool that is very simple to use.
- Between February 10 and 21st a mobile free tax clinic will be traveling across Salt Lake, Davis, and Tooele Counties. You can visit the mobile site and get assistance from an IRS certified volunteer with filing your own taxes online using myfreetaxes.com. Call 211 or visit myfreetaxes.com to find out where the mobile tax site will be next!
Remember to bring:
- Photo ID
- Social Security Card or ITIN and Birthdates for all persons listed on tax return
- Income statements or W2s for each job
- All 1099 forms received
